Launching a startup is challenging. Launching a healthcare or biotech startup—where founders must navigate complex regulatory systems, clinical validation, patient access, and rapidly evolving technologies—is even harder. That is where Helix comes in. Yale Helix is a Yale undergraduate incubator, dedicated to empowering the next generation of biotech and healthtech innovators. Supported by Yale Tsai CITY, the Center for Biomedical Innovation and Technology (CBIT), and Red Bull, Helix brings together some of Yale’s most ambitious students to help early-stage startups tackle real-world challenges and accelerate breakthrough ideas. Since its inception in 2016, Helix has helped startups raise millions of dollars in funding while connecting 224 students with 56 startups across more than 32,000 hours of support. From AI-driven healthcare platforms and medical devices to therapeutics and precision medicine technologies, Helix teams have contributed to ventures pushing the future of healthcare forward. For students: We seek students from every background—from engineering, medicine, finance, to the liberal arts—and give them the opportunity to work directly with innovative startups while developing meaningful professional skills and lasting friendships. Through mentorship, speaker events, networking opportunities, and hands-on startup experience, students become part of a collaborative ecosystem driven by curiosity, innovation, and impact.
